Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist - Clinical Investigator
Sinai Health System (SHS) in partnership with the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, is seeking a full-time physician as a Clinician Investigator with demonstrated excellence and subspecialty training in maternal-fetal medicine (MFM). The anticipated start date is April 1, 2018.
Mount Sinai Hospital is a leader in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Neonatology, with one of the largest programs and services in Canada. It is a fully-affiliated teaching hospital with the University of Toronto and is associated with the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, an institute of international recognition in which research in Women and Infants' health forms a major component. The Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine consists of 15 MFM specialists and 3 geneticists. The division supports a large Fetal Ultrasound, Prenatal Diagnosis Program, Fetal Therapy Program, Placenta Program, Prevention of Prematurity Program and Medical Disorders of Pregnancy Program. The division serves a population catchment area in excess of 6.5 million people.
The Division is in the process of hiring a MFM Clinician Investigator. Desirable qualities in the successful candidate would include Master's level or higher graduate training in an area such as clinical epidemiology, quality improvement/patient safety, knowledge translation or related topic. The successful candidate will dedicate 40% of their time to clinical or basic research endeavours. The clinical focus will be in maternal-fetal medicine. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in general maternal-fetal medicine activities such as ultrasound scanning, prenatal diagnosis, inpatient and outpatient management of high-risk transfers, outreach clinics and high-risk on call. The candidate will participate in teaching trainees at all levels at the University of Toronto.
The qualified applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the RCPSC and must hold an MD degree, be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario. The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment with the University of Toronto's Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position will be placed in the Hospital Department Practice Plan with a minimum gross annual compensation of $200,000.00 (estimated based on fee-for-service billings).
