Floor Technician - 1st shift

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is a public, coeducational, doctoral-granting, residential university chartered in 1891. It is one of the three original institutions of The University North Carolina System.

The Facilities Operations Department is a service organization comprised of skilled professionals dedicated to the continuous maintenance operation and improvement of the university facilities and grounds in order to provide a safe, clean, and well functioning environment for all members of the university community.

The position is responsible for completing floor care projects on campus floors, which include: mop, buff, strip and re-wax floors; shampoo and extract carpet, clean upholstery, bonnet carpets; top scrub floors and resurface wood floors; complete general and detail cleaning in academic, administrative, and performance building on the campus; and other duties as assigned by supervisor. This position is also involved in special projects such as furniture and supply moves.

Minimum Qualifications

Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some of these positions. Preferred Qualifications

A valid driver's license

High School Diploma or GED
One (1) to two (2) years experience in the use and care of floor maintenance equipment

Alternate Option

If no applicants apply who meet the required competency level and training & experience requirements, then management may consider other applicants. Salary would be determined based on competencies, equity, budget, and market considerations.
