The School of Communications and Information Systems seeks applicants for the Director of the award-winning Academic Media Center (AMC), which is a media production unit that plays a significant role in curricular and extra-curricular offerings in a converged media environment that includes RMU-TV, RMU Radio and RMU Sentry Media. The position includes a faculty appointment at the rank of assistant or associate professor with a 9-credit/year load for teaching undergraduate courses in film and TV production, media studies and/or broadcasting.

Manage 8000-square foot production facility: its staff and its assets, including studios, booths, control room, computer labs and equipment room; ensure these facilities meet curricular and extra-curricular needs.

  • As a faculty member, teach a 9-credit load per academic year and participate in department, school and university service.
  • Provide oversight for all student productions, including RMU-TV, RMU Radio and Colonial Sports Network; coordinate these productions for integration into Sentry Media and other media outlets.
  • Provide production support for advanced student projects and externally funded faculty scholarly and creative projects.
  • Support general university production needs and participate in department, school and university service.
  • This position will need to drive on behalf of the University. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned. This position is dependent upon final budgetary approval.

  • Minimum Qualifications
    Terminal degree, such as a M.F.A. or Ph.D. in film, media studies, communication or a closely related field (an ABD in doctoral fields may be considered).
  • Production management experience required.
  • Peer-reviewed record of creative activity or research required.
  • University teaching experience and professional production experience preferred.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with commercial TV production and/or narrative film production experience.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • A strong commitment to teaching.
  • Ability to work with multiple internal and external constituents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Valid driver's license.
