Assists with the direction and services of the Counseling Center including direct clinical care to students, management of the training program for externs, assists with crisis response, and consults with University faculty and staff seeking support and consultation through the center. This position is also required to participate in outreach programs and serve on University committees as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree (MA, MS, MBA , etc.)
Academic areas or major: Counseling, Psychology, Social Work
3 to 5 years of related experience
Clinical mental health experience
Minimum of 3.0 GPA
Experience with college aged adults in a university or college setting
Experience with clinical supervision of externs
Ability to functionally supervise externs
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to function in high stress or crisis situations
Ability to manage people functionally
License eligible to provide mental health care in the Commonwealth of Virginia

Preferred Qualifications

Titanium Electronic file knowledge preferred

Responsibility / Duty

Conducts psychological evaluations/intakes and provides short-term therapy in individual and group settings for Marymount students.

Percent of total time 21

Responsibility / Duty

Evaluates, assesses, and provides recommendations on effectiveness of clinical services. Leads, along with the Director, development and implementation of departmental policy and procedures and strategic planning in accordance to the university's strategic goals. Oversees client satisfaction, outreach, retention, and other measurements of Center success. Oversees clinical load of counselors and externs. Serves as primary supervisor and administrator in the absence of Director.

Responsibility / Duty

Maintains clinical records and necessary statistics of psychotherapeutic and other client contacts in Titanium Electronic Record System, in accordance with ethical standards and guidelines.

Responsibility / Duty

Provides crisis management, triage, daytime walk-in emergency service, and assumes after-hours on-call responsibilities for daytime and evening emergency psychological services.

Provides supervision and presents didactic material as needed to extern trainees.

Responsibility / Duty

Provides mental health and risk management training to University staff, including campus safety, residence life staff, orientation staff, and other University faculty/staff as appropriate.

Responsibility / Duty

Conducts outreach and psychoeducational programming, including orientation sessions for new students and parents, classroom presentations, and mental health events (e.g., National Depression Screening Day) to the campus community. Participates in Student Development Department and other University committees, as assigned by the Director.

Responsibility / Duty

Consults with parents, physicians, faculty, academic deans, residence life staff, off-campus counseling services, other campus offices and students in order to provide quality care to students.

Responsibility / Duty

Consults with psychiatrists in conjunction with prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medication for psychotherapy clients.

Responsibility / Duty

Makes referrals to off-campus therapists, clinics, or hospitals, when appropriate. Reports situations of abuse/neglect or risk to self/others to appropriate internal and external entities, in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
