Associate Director of Training and Development

Job Description Summary:
The Associate Director of Training and Development is responsible for the effective development, coordination and presentation of training and development programs for all employees.
Assesses developmental needs to drive training initiatives and arranges suitable training solutions for employees.
Actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate and enhance performance of employees faculty and staff.

Specific Duties:

Serves as a member of the HR Leadership Team providing departmental leadership in collaboration with the Associate Director of HR- Compensation, Benefits and HRIS; Talent Management, and Director Payroll Services under the leadership of the CHRO/AVP

Partners with the Employee Relations and Talent Management to continually assess training needs and develop or identify training programs or resources that address performance gaps.

Aligns with the University’s strategic objectives to develop and lead strategies and solutions that support short and long-term division-wide goals.

Oversees performance management program. Proactively engage and advises the community on the importance of performance management and development.
Assess current learning and development programs and develop and implement creative and innovative training solutions, using a variety of techniques, to meet the developmental needs of the community.

Manages the external contracts of training vendors who provide contracted services.
Collaborates with OIT to develop, manage and maintain technology requirements and applications that support the successful deployment and administration of training.
Consults with departments to develop and deliver customized departmental training solutions.
Develops supervisory training that promote employee development and succession planning.
Develops and implements training programs that increase employee commitment and builds a climate of trust, continual improvement, and accountability.

Audits and ensures compliance of federal and state laws and mandatory training.

Aligns with campus leadership development programs for emerging leaders and present enhanced opportunities for development including coaching and mentoring programs.

Evaluates potential training resources both internally and externally; procure and monitor training vendors; survey and assess the outcome for modifications.
Communicates changes in personnel policies and procedures and ensure proper compliance is followed.
Oversees the creation and maintenance of all records associated with employee training.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management and/or equivalent experience/training.
7 years of human resources experience in developing, implementing and managing training and learning programs
5 years Human Resources Supervisory/Leadership experience.

Strong oral and written communication, including preparation and delivery of presentations to all levels of the organization.

Demonstrated hands-on success in building positive professional relationships and generating outstanding results.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree preferred. Human Resource experience working in Higher Education preferred. SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR, or equivalent certification is desired. Experience with Banner HRIS
