Position Summary

The Grant Consultant provides MSU faculty members with consulting and editing services to support the development of grant proposals for NSF and other non-NIH federal agencies. This individual must be well-versed in the current agency policies and initiatives and able to offer advice that aligns with the Federal expectations and priorities. The consultant must be able to work with researchers from both the social and physical sciences and help researchers to develop Broader Impacts plans and activities. The person must also be able to conduct webinars and panel discussions on grant development and meet with faculty in small and large group settings.

The consultant may work remotely, but must be available on campus at least five days a month. The consultant must also be available to conduct phone or video conferences during normal business hours when not on campus. MSU will cover costs for travel between campus and any location in the continental United States along with hotel stays in East Lansing when on site. Employee is responsible for meals while traveling and on site.

Required Degree

Masters -Science

Minimum Requirements

Three years experience writing and/or editing grant proposals

Extensive experience with research within a University setting

Strong written and verbal skills

Ability to work independently

Strong individual initiative

Able to attend federal granting agency conferences

The consultant must have experience writing or editing NSF proposals and be open to learning about priorities and requirements of other agencies

Desired Qualifications

Experience with DoD.

Doctorate -Science
