The University of Virginia department of Information Technology Services seeks a system administrator/Local Support Partner (LSP) to join our team. This position will provide comprehensive end user support, entail project management duties, and provide technical support expertise to for Information Technology Services and its customers. The LSP will analyze, define, test, troubleshoot, implement hardware and software technologies and communicate to units supported by the ITS Desktop Support department as well as other assigned organizations within UVa while balancing industry best practices, security policy compliance, and costs. The LSP will support desktop, network, shared server services, and manage infrastructure organization & configuration for the enterprise. Additionally they will serve as 3rd level support for client based Oracle & PeopleSoft issues for specified UVa departments and affiliates. This role will entail high levels of project planning, management, and organization, and scheduling.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Expert level ability in the installation and support of the most common business application (Acrobat DC, Flash, Jave Runtime Environment, MS IE 11, MS Office suites 2016/Office 365, MS Exchange, Oracle client 11, Firefox ESR, Safari, Chrome, OSX.
Strong understanding of security principles, concepts and best operating procedures. Applicant must have through knowledge and understanding of HD encryption technologies, Antivirus suites (Symantec Endpoint & MS System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection).
