Engineering Leadership Program Instructor

The Engineering Leadership Program (ELP) in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking an experienced professional to join our dynamic program. This is a full-time position with a working title of Scholar in Residence, Instructor, or Senior Instructor. This position will have teaching (50%) and service (50%) responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have professional and educational experience to provide programmatic management for ELP and to teach engineering leadership courses. This position is a non-tenure track, 3-year renewable contract appointment. Salary is competitive and commensurate with skills and experience.

This position has ELP programmatic responsibilities that include: prospective student recruitment; tracking student success in the program; ELP faculty development; curriculum development and review; mentor matching and management; communication to ELP alumni, mentors, and students; and program financial oversight. The position will also be responsible for developing strong linkages to other campus leadership and entrepreneurship programs and developing leadership courses, seminars, and/or workshops for engineering departments, programs, and student engineering societies. Additionally, the position will stay current in engineering leadership research.

ELP is an academic certificate program that allows undergraduate engineering students to explore fundamental concepts and questions that are meaningful for life-long leadership development. The certificate program requires 12-credit hours of coursework, mentorships, and guided leadership experiences. More information about ELP is available at

Minimum Qualifications:

An MS degree in a field of study related to engineering, business, management, and/or leadership.

Substantive leadership and/or management experience in industry, non-profit organizations, higher education or public service.

A documented record of successful teaching in a higher education or professional education setting.

Substantial experience working as and/or with engineers, researchers and scientists.

Desired Qualifications:

A PhD degree in engineering, management, or leadership.

Experience in academic administration.

A record of creative or scholarly research in leadership.

Executive-level management experience.
