Department Overview
The College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas consists of the Departments of Art Education & Art History, Design, Studio Art, and the Onstead Institute for Education in the Visual Arts & Design. The College of Visual Arts and Design (CVAD) at the University of North Texas (UNT) assumes a critical role in building our region into a world-renowned center for culture and education. CVAD fosters creative futures for its diverse student population and the area through rigorous arts-based education, arts- and client-based studio practice, scholarship and research.

Job Description
The College of Visual Arts and Deisgn at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Director, Academic Advising to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Supervising and developing functions of the CVAD Advising Office, including recruitment and retention programs, orientation and registration processes, and continued student advising.
* Working as liaison between university offices (admissions, registrar, etc) and CVAD departments in communicating undergraduate issues and policies.
* Working with CVAD departments, Academic Assoc. Dean, and university offices to enforce CVAD and university policies and to expedite solutions for student issues and complaints.
* Responsible for the mechanics of articulation and DARS activities.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

Master's Degree in related field and six years of closely related professional experience and the following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

* Extensive knowledge of issues and activities related to assigned program areas.
* Knowledge and skills to professionally and effectively counsel and mentor students.
* Strong ability to establish successful working relationships and to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff orally and in writing.
* Demonstrated ability in organizational planning, budgeting, and supervisory and leadership skills.
* Knowledge of University and external rules and policies related to the assigned program areas and Student Development in general.
* Knowledge of safety and security precautions related to work performed and work supervised.
