Summary of the Position

The Senior Gift Officer is responsible to conduct personal solicitations, and to develop and execute fundraising strategies to grow the President's Club, the top donor levels ($1,000+) of the Bentley Annual Fund, helping to achieve dollar and participation goals for the university.

Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Senior Gift Officer will personally identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward Annual Fund donors for the President's Club. He/She carries a portfolio of ~200 prospect households, and conducts over 120 annual personal solicitations of constituents who have the potential to make four and five-figure gifts annually, or elevating current President's Club giving to higher levels.

Essential Functions

The Senior Gift Officer is expected to attain and track highly quantifiable, measurable goals within annual giving, as well as personally contribute to the overall achievement of division and departmental goals set by the Executive Director, Annual Giving and Advancement Relations and the Vice President of University Advancement.

The Senior Gift Officer consults and collaborates with the Director to assist in securing lead annual gifts through meaningful partnerships and actions. Applying industry best practices, the Senior Gift Officer will also maintain an awareness of successful initiatives utilized at peer institutions and make recommendations to grow the President's Club levels of Bentley Annual Fund.

He/She carries a portfolio that includes alumni, parents, and individuals. The Senior Gift Officer actively engages in the qualification and rating of new donor prospects during prospect visits and makes recommendations of prospects who should be managed at the Leadership Gifts level ($25,000 or higher).

This position requires extensive travel; The Senior Gift Officer travels locally and nationally on average 10 or more days a month, conducting face-to-face meetings and soliciting leadership-level Annual Fund prospects for an average of 15 solicitation/stewardship visits a month.

The Senior Gift Officer develops an annual work plan prior to the start of each fiscal year that includes bottom line financial fundraising goals, goals for the number of days of travel visiting lead annual gift prospects, goals for the number of face to face solicitation visits, and receptions and events to cultivate and steward leadership-level Annual Fund donors.

In addition, the Senior Gift Officer prepares and enters contact reports from prospect interactions into the Millennium database system within one week of each meeting, and executes appropriate follow-up actions. All travel reimbursement paper work and requests need to be submitted for approval within 30 days of travel.

Minimum Qualifications(Education and Experience Requirements)

Bachelor's degree required plus a minimum of 5-7 years of proven educational fundraising experience with a solid record in securing four and five-figure annual gifts. A comprehensive understanding of higher education fundraising is highly desirable. Demonstrated success in program development, ability to work collaboratively with diverse campus constituencies. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks and meet deadlines and goals. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software is important. Experience with Millennium database systems a plus. This position requires travel by plane, train, and/or car. Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted United States driver's license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley's insurance carrier.
