Job description

UK HealthCare Information Technology has posted the MDM Specialist II role. The MDM specialist II will perform the development of work instructions, automated scripts and technical maintenance of master data records to support master data
standards and requirements. This role will work on the design and development of customized MDM code and services. Provides MDM tool operation during the design and build of MDM solution components. Provides expert advice, counsel, and technical completed staff work to ensure successful deployment of best-in-class MDM solutions. This role requires a solid understanding of database design, data models, data mapping techniques, data transformation, data quality, and ETL processes.
Works in partnership with other developers, architects, subject matter experts, and other IT team members to implement the technical vision for MDM at UKHC. Experience with MDM data models, matching rules, trust frameworks, complex
hierarchy relationship management, and data governance. Participates in checkpoints and reviews of designs and code. UK HealthCare is a comprehensive healthcare system consisting of the medical, nursing, health sciences, public health, dental and pharmacy patient care activities of the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY, and in several off-site locations. UK HealthCare is expanding through the construction of a new hospital and potential future acquisitions.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of this position include: Occasional lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to 50lbs; occasional standing or walking with objects 10-25lbs; intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time with intermittent repetitive motions (such as typing); occasional exposure to loud noises; and occasional job related travel (


Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, with some evening, nights, and weekends required per business needs.


Qualified candidates must have a good knowledge of Data quality tools, including data profiling, cleansing and identity resolution, preferably with IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management. This individual should have experience with Business
Process Modeling. Qualified candidates should have experience with best practices driven design and development, installation, and performance tuning of an MDM product, as well as match rule tuning to ensure timeliness and quality of deliverables. This individual should have experience performing solution design, implementing MDM solutions, and supporting robust and complex MDM initiatives. This individual must have experience interpreting business needs and converting them into technical requirements, including defining use cases and test scenarios. Qualified candidates have experience participating in Quality Assurance (QA) code reviews on MDM components and conducting regression testing within the MDM repository. This individual should have experience with SQL, TSQL or PL/SQL, and experience with scripting languages. The ideal candidate has been exposed to data governance solutions, has experience in data and information modeling, and is able to work independently with minimal supervision.
