Under the general direction of the Contracts and Grants Manager, independently responsible for all accounting and analytical activities in the areas of contracts and grants. This involves all facets of accounting and financial analysis for extramural funds including the assignment and maintenance of funds in the General Ledger System (Financial System), the analysis and management of daily cash needs, the preparation and analysis of financial status reports and invoices, the monitoring, analysis, and preparation of financial and budgetary transactions, and the completion of all financial close-out requirements. Performance at this level often deals with new issues, systems, and policies which require innovative ideas and creative thinking, specific knowledge of a wide range of concepts, including generally accepted accounting principles, federal costing regulations (OMB Circulars A-21, Federal Demonstration Project Guidelines, NIH Expanded Authorities Guidelines, PHS Grants Policy Guidelines), various policies of awarding agencies, University policies and procedures, University accounting policies, the General Ledger System, as well as the skill to interpret and apply this knowledge to the identification and resolution of accounting and financial problems. The consequence of error is enormous if regulatory guidelines and agency policies are not followed (i.e., audit dis-allowance's and fines). Requires extensive knowledge of the on-line systems of the General Ledger including General Ledger Inquiry, Transfer of Expense, and Transfer of Funds. Skill in utilizing Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Data Warehouse is required. Responsible for providing advice and communicating University and regulatory policies, as well as awarding agency guidelines, to campus departmental administrators and Principal Investigators. Responsible for resolving problems in all areas of responsibility directly with awarding agencies, Office of Research Administration personnel, Principal Investigators, and/or campus departmental administrators as required.

Salary: Range $49,226.00 - $54,500.00
Total Hours: 8-5, M-F
Must be willing to work early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends as necessary.
