Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Valparaiso University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position for a one-academic-year appointment beginning in August 2018. The department seeks applicants with a strong interest in quality undergraduate teaching, as the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching both classroom and laboratory physics courses, primarily at the introductory level. A Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy is preferred, but candidates with degrees in related fields will be considered. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. Research activity during the academic year is not expected for this position. However, the department is supportive of active research, with the understanding that teaching is the primary responsibility. Areas of active research in the Department include stellar astrophysics, galactic astrophysics, nuclear and particle physics, condensed matter physics, nanoscience, and computational physics.
