Albany State University seeks nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Development & Alumni Relations. Albany State University recently completed a consolidation process with the former Darton State College which has resulted in a vibrant university with a rich history that is poised to become the educational, cultural, and economic leader for Albany, Georgia and beyond. The incumbent will have the opportunity to build a fundraising and alumni affairs operation that is currently in its infancy in terms of organization and training.  

Training and Experience:

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education with an advanced degree strongly preferred. Additional preferred qualification include: 
5 years of advancing experience raising private funds for an institution of higher education; 
3 years of experience supervising a diverse staff of subordinates including ensuring accountability performance measures; 
Demonstrated experience as a strategic thinker with the ability to plan for desired outcomes; 
Integrity and a commitment to completing assigned tasks on time and within budget; 
Budget management in excess of $100,000; 
Experience in recruiting and motivating volunteers and building cohesive, productive boards; 
An understanding of the history and traditions of a historically black college and university; 
Experience hiring, managing and developing professional staff; 
Demonstrated knowledge of educational fundraising best practices. 
The ideal candidate will have a track record of fundraising success, effective alumni engagement, organizational skills, community leadership, and the ability to recruit, train, and motivate talented fundraising and alumni staff.

In addition, the Vice President will have a unique opportunity to embrace the challenges of integrating alumni of the former Darton State College, a traditional majority college, with alumni of Albany State University, a historically black university. The Vice President will also serve as the Chief Development Officer for ASU as well as the Executive Director of the Albany State University Foundation, Inc., the institutionally related foundation established to support the mission of ASU.
