Reproductive Biology

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Position: Assistant Professor, Full Time Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Reproductive Biology in the Department of Animal Sciences.

Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in reproductive biology or a closely related field, a commitment to teaching, and an ability to establish an externally funded, internationally-recognized program of research in reproductive biology. Candidates with postdoctoral research experience, a strong record of publication and evidence of likely success in competing for extramural funding will be preferred.

Responsibilities: The Department of Animal Sciences has a long and prominent history of discovery and excellence in basic reproductive biology. The successful candidate will develop and maintain a nationally and internationally recognized research program supported by extramural funding. The individual will be strongly encouraged to develop a research program that spans the continuum between fundamental and translational research with an appreciation of how disciplines such as genetics, immunology, nutrition, and bioengineering can be integrated with reproduction. The successful candidate will also participate and contribute to interdisciplinary campus initiatives related to reproductive biology and contribute to the public service missions of the University. Responsibilities will also include mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and advising and interacting with undergraduate students. The successful candidate will participate in teaching appropriate courses in reproductive biology and/or physiology.

Candidates with research interests in understanding animal reproductive biology using multidisciplinary approaches in livestock and/or other mammals including humans are encouraged to apply. Potential research areas may include, but are not limited to: control of fertility, gamete biology, reproductive immunology, assisted reproduction, reproductive stem cells, genetic engineering, and epigenetic regulation of reproduction and fertility.

Proposed Start Date: Negotiable after the closing date.

The department maintains animal facilities for beef and dairy cattle, swine, horses, and poultry.
