Posting Summary:
The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia seeks to fill a non-tenure track General Faculty position in Management Communication at the rank of lecturer, assistant professor, or associate professor. The hired faculty member will (1) teach communication strategy, business writing, and professional speaking, as well as related communication topics, and (2) have primary responsibility for developing, delivering, and assessing curriculum and services needed to support undergraduate and graduate business students for whom English is a non-native language.

The McIntire School of Commerce ( awards a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, a Master of Science in Accounting, a Master of Science in Commerce, and a Master of Science in the Management of Information Technology. The school expects to launch a Master of Science in Global Commerce in Fall 2016. In 2014, BloombergBusinessWeek magazine again ranked the McIntire School's undergraduate program as second in the nation.

A Ph.D. is preferred, although applicants may hold a master's degree in English, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), or a closely related field, plus relevant experience. The successful candidate will have (1) writing instruction experience at the college level, (2) experience developing and delivering instruction specifically for international and other students for whom English is a non-native language (3) excellent public speaking and business presentation skills, and (4) outstanding interpersonal skills. Applicants should possess the ability to teach effectively in dynamic business school classes as well as effectively consult with students one on one. The successful candidate will teach in the fall and spring semesters and will be expected to participate in summer orientation and curriculum development activities.

McIntire is housed in a 156,000-square-foot academic complex located on the Lawn in the heart of UVA's historic Central Grounds, designed by Thomas Jefferson and recently named as the most beautiful college campus in the United States. Charlottesville lies in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, approximately two hours from Washington, D.C.
