The University of Virginia's School of Medicine aspires to become one of the top institutions in the world by hiring new faculty who can help catalyze research that will have major impact on our understanding and treatment of major human diseases. With this goal, we are seeking to fill multiple tenure-eligible and tenured faculty positions. Faculty will have a primary appointment in a department to be determined based upon background and experience. Rank and tenure status will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, reputation, and scholarly achievement. Applicants for more senior positions are expected to have an internationally recognized research program, an excellent track record in obtaining extramural funding, a commitment to academic excellence, and an expansive vision of biomedical science ranging across fundamental basic, translational, and clinical research. We welcome and strongly encourage applications from physician scientists. Advanced standing candidates are also expected to have an outstanding track record in training of graduate students, clinical fellows and/or post-doctoral fellows. Candidates for tenure eligible junior positions are expected to have the potential to excel in each of the preceding areas.
Consideration will be given to individuals working in all areas of biomedical research and related disciplines, but we are particularly seeking individuals whose research spans and integrates across multiple areas including immunology, inflammation, metabolism, omics, systems engineering, computational medicine, and cell and molecular biology. Candidates must hold an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD degree, or equivalent and proven leadership skills.
