Posting Summary:
The Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks a Research Associate to contribute to research on hydrodynamic and morphodynamic modeling of shallow coastal bay systems. Model development and application will focus on the bays, marshes, and barrier islands on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, the site of the Virginia Coast Reserve Long-Term Ecological Research Program.

The position requires a PhD in oceanography, environmental science, geosciences, or a related field by the appointment start date and a demonstrated record of research and publication. The candidate must have experience with hydrodynamic modeling (ideally, experience with Delft3D or ROMS). Strong skills in quantitative analysis, verbal and written communication of scientific results, ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of interdisciplinary teams, and ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple tasks are required critical skills.

Appointment is for one year with possibility of a renewal for one additional year, contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding. The anticipated start date will be in late August 2016.
