The Dwyer lab in the Department of Cell Biology is seeking a Laboratory Technician 2 to work on experiments utilizing molecular biology, cell culture, organelle and protein isolation, immunoprecipitation, immunocytochemistry, and/or fluorescence microscopy. The technician will work closely with the PI to complete tasks to support NIH-funded research and investigate how neural stem cells divide to produce neurons, and the function and regulation of microtubule-based motor proteins and other cytoskeletal proteins.
The technician will also be responsible for laboratory maintenance. This includes training of other personnel, maintaining mouse colonies, ordering supplies, preparing stock solutions, organizing and maintaining virus stocks and assisting the PI with environmental health and safety compliance.
The successful candidate will have a B.S. degree in Biology, Chemistry or a related field and 2-4 years experience in a research laboratory. Additional requirements include attention to detail in experimental work and record keeping, ability to handle multiple assignments, self-motivation and eagerness to acquire new skills.
Knowledge of PCR, Molecular Biology, Microscopy, Tissue Sectioning, Cell Culture, Immunoblotting and Animal Husbandry is preferred.
