Posting Summary:
The Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, at the University Of Virginia School Of Medicine, seeks candidates for a transplant nephrology position. This faculty position can be tenure-ineligible Assistant or Associate Professor, Clinical Faculty, or tenure-eligible Assistant or Associate Professor Clinician Educator, and will join five other transplant nephrologists with the University's Kidney Transplant Program.

The incumbent will be expected to provide the full spectrum of transplant nephrology care during the pre-transplant, peri-transplant, and post-transplant phases. These duties would also involve participation in our program's regional outreach efforts as well as clinical support for patients who have received nonrenal solid organ transplants.

Rank is dependent upon qualifications. The award of tenure eligible requires documentation of excellence in one area (clinical research, teaching or patient care), scholarship and regional reputation.

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and also be board-eligible or board-certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the appointment start date. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to education and research as well as expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease, pre and post-transplant care.

The transplant program has an American Society of Transplantation Certified Training Program with one transplant nephrology fellow per year. Our program is one of the largest in the region and continues to grow as nephrologists are involved in all aspects of pre and post-transplant care. The Division of Nephrology consists of 27 full time faculty providing basic and clinical research, clinical care, education, and disease management for patients with diverse types of kidney diseases.
