Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia's Department of Economics of the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a position at all tenure-track and tenured ranks (Assistant/Associate/Professor) in all fields with particular attention on macroeconomics, econometrics, and labor/education.
Candidates are expected to have an outstanding research record relative to rank, along with the capacity to teach and advise Ph.D. students in their research. Candidates will be expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels and provide service to the University, department and professional organizations. Candidates at the assistant professor level are expected to have a promising research agenda along with a polished job market paper while those at the associate and full levels are expected to have an internationally recognized publication record. Candidates at the assistant professor level must be on track to receive a Ph.D. in the relevant field by May 2018, and must hold a Ph.D. at the time of appointment while those at the associate and full levels must hold a Ph.D. at the time of application.
The department aims to recruit faculty dedicated to building and extending a top-tier research portfolio, including the development of external funding to support research endeavors. The Department of Economics is eager to attract scholars eager to work together and build on the intellectually vibrant community for economists at the University.
Review of applications will begin August 21, 2017. The appointment begins with the fall term of 2018, with an anticipated start date during July 2018.
