Posting Summary:
The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics in the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia seeks a postdoctoral candidate to work in the laboratory of Dr. Michael McConnell. The project will study DNA damage signaling using primary mouse neurons, and complement existing projects in the laboratory that study brain somatic mosaicism with hiPSC-derived neurons and single cell analysis.

The selected candidate will have additional responsibilities of meeting weekly with the Principal Investigator to discuss experimental results, and present results in weekly lab meetings. The candidate must work independently and ethically, document all research data appropriately, and assist other members of the lab.

The selected candidate must have a PhD by the start date in Neuroscience or related field, and have demonstrated expertise with mouse neuron culture and molecular cloning. Additional skills should include RNA isolation and gene expression analysis, western blot analysis, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry. Basic proficiency with UNIX, Python, R, and NextGen sequencing analysis are a plus.
