The University of Virginia Elson Student Health Center is seeking a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner for its Medical Clinic Manager position responsible for the day to day leadership and management of the nursing staff and reception staff in its General Medicine and Gynecology clinic. The Medical Clinic Manager works closely with the General Medicine and Gynecology leadership (e.g. Directors and/or Associate Directors) to assure that all clinical and administrative guidelines are maintained in order to accomplish patient care and administrative objectives. Provides leadership to ensure quality, accessible, comprehensive and cost effective health care at a University Health Center. Will have demonstrated developing and maintaining collaborative relationships during previous employment.
Participates in the maintenance and implementation of quality improvement initiatives, clinic scheduling, and assures competency of all nursing staff through Peer Review, Immunization Competency Program and by direct observation. Plans, implements, and oversees the nurse trainee program.
This individual will have demonstrated skill in human resource management, supervising staff, delegating tasks, and coaching to improve staff performance,
staff education and performance management. Expectations for clinical competency include phlebotomy, gynecological and primary care, allergy and vaccine administration (routine and travel), nursing triage, administration of medication, experience with computer programs/EMR, and knowledge of the impact of communicable illness.
The ideal candidate will have graduated from an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or Master's degree or graduation from an approved Nurse Practitioner Education Program with certification. Applicant should have 4-7 years of clinical nursing and supervisory experience, with expertise in outpatient, emergency department and/or college health nursing. Must have excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills with demonstrated knowledge of and experience in public health practice and principles and the ability to work independently and autonomously with minimal instruction. Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to the diverse student population along with an appreciation for ethnic and cultural heritages.

Expertise in triage nursing, nursing assessment, intravenous therapy, medication administration and competency in the job related skills required to provide direct patient care for the college population.
