Posting Summary:
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking a full-time clinical track Assistant Professor in the Section of Pediatric Psychology. Responsibilities include assessment, intervention, and consultation in pediatric subspecialty or primary care clinics with youth who have medical complexity, chronic illness, neuro-developmental disabilities, neuromuscular disorders, intellectual disability, acquired brain injury, mental health disorders, and comorbid diagnoses. A portion of this position will involve clinical service in the Teen Health Clinic where presenting behavioral health concerns include depression, anxiety, gender dysphoria, and eating disorders. The majority of clinical work will be in outpatient settings with the possibility of limited inpatient consultation. Other responsibilities include teaching fellows, residents, and medical students and participation on departmental and health system committees.

Successful candidates must possess a PhD or equivalent from an APA-accredited program, have completed an APA-accredited internship, be licensed or license-eligible in Virginia, and be skilled in interprofessional functioning in a complex, medical environment. Post-doctoral level experience in a pediatric medical setting is preferred.

The Section of Pediatric Psychology is situated within the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and provides clinical service for the broader Department of Pediatrics and UVA Children's Hospital. The Section is currently comprised of three pediatric and child clinical psychologists and is excited to expand. The psychologists work closely with pediatrician colleagues, fellows, nurse practitioners, nurses, and multi-disciplined allied health staff. The Department of Pediatrics is an extremely collegial and collaborative department, and the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics has outstanding working relationships with providers in the community as well as with other pediatric subspecialists and colleagues in other areas of the UVA Health System.
