Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia is searching for collaborative and dynamic candidates to fill a Senior Employee Relations Consultant position. As an integral member of the Employee Relations (ER) Team, the Senior Employee Relations Consultant will work closely with managers, employees and HR Professionals to resolve workplace issues within the UVa Health System.

Senior ER Consultants are strategic, consultative partners for client areas across the Health System. This role serves not only as a subject matter expert in the area of employee relations but as a resource and mentor to other members of the ER team. Senior ER Consultants will also be responsible for providing additional support to the Employee Relations Manager and will operate with a high level of autonomy.

Successful candidates will demonstrate advanced expertise in employee relations and a proven track record of successful results acting as trusted advisors amongst other HR professionals and managers. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience handling employee relation matters in a Human Resources/Employee Relations role. Preference will be given to qualified internal applicants.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong working knowledge of relevant state and federal employment laws and compliance requirements related to HR management and employment functions;

Proven ability to perform HR duties and manage sensitive information with discretion, integrity and respect;

Ability to Conceptualize - Able to resolve complex problems and effectively communicate rationale with key stakeholders, while remaining sensitive to employee concerns and adapting to different, sometimes conflicting stakeholder needs;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills including small and large group facilitation capabilities;

Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail;

Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Work with senior leaders to accomplish goals. Ability to lead, train, and mentor junior professionals;

Uncommon Integrity - Practice and promote integrity and ethical behavior;

Demonstrated experience creating ER training programs and delivering training to employees and management groups;

Balanced Decision-making - Possesses good judgment, conflict resolution, and decision making skills
