Posting Summary:
The Department of Pathology at the University of Virginia is seeking a Grants and Contracts Specialist. The Grants and Contracts Specialist will be expected to perform pre and post award management, including award setup, monitoring the allocation of expenses, and award closeout. Responsibilities will also include preparing, assisting, reviewing, and providing guidance in the preparation of grant proposals, including budgets, budget justifications and proposal packages, and ensuring that University and funding agency requirements are met.

Qualified applicants must have an Associate's Degree with a minimum of two years of grants and contracts experience (in areas such as pre-award, grant submission, finance, budget, account reconciliation, and/or compliance). A Bachelor's degree may be considered in lieu of required experience.

This work requires individuals who can work and communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. Successful candidates must be highly motivated; able to successfully manage competing priorities and deadlines; have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards; and demonstrate commitment to the quality of their work and the service provided.

This is a restricted position and is contingent on the continuation of funding.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.
2. Knowledge of Oracle applications and UBI.
3. Ability to prepare financial reports.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills in daily interactions.
5. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
6. Ability to work with senior leaders.
7. Knowledge of the University, state and federal policies and regulations.
