The Department of Pediatrics' Division of General Pediatrics at the University of Virginia and University of Virginia Children's Hospital seeks candidates for a part-time pediatric hospitalist. Full-time pediatric hospitalists who have salary support for research or other activities are also encouraged to apply. Salary, rank, and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Candidates must have an MD or DO degree, be board-certified in pediatrics, and plan to seek board certification in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. The incumbent will see patients and mentor trainees on our Pediatric Hospital Medicine services. All hospitalist faculty share call and weekend/holiday coverage. The ideal candidate will embrace the missions of academic medicine by possessing a passion for patient care, demonstrated teaching skills, and an interest in scholarly efforts. Our faculty currently are engaged in substantive projects in the areas of patient safety, quality improvement, medical education, complex care, global health, and community advocacy. Our Pediatric Hospital Medicine Service is a traditional teaching model in which residents care for all patients. Overnight in-house call is not required; night call is taken by phone from home.
The University of Virginia Medical Center and Children's Hospital are located in the midst of the main university grounds of the University of Virginia. We are a children's hospital within a hospital, with a complete array of Pediatric sub-specialty services. We are nationally ranked by US News and World Report.
The Division of General Pediatrics is currently comprised of 32 full and part-time pediatricians. The Division has outstanding collaborative working relationships with other pediatric sub-specialists, our surgical colleagues and our colleagues in adult medicine.
