Posting Summary:
The Center for Sciences, Humanities and the Arts Network of Technological Initiatives (SHANTI) in the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for promoting, facilitating, and supporting faculty, staff, and graduate students in the use of digital technology in their research, teaching, and engagement activities. The position will work with the SHANTI team to connect individuals to the digital ecosystem that SHANTI has been fostering at UVA, including especially Mandala platform, a new scholarly asset management platform. The position will also interface with the SHANTI technological development team in order to provide user experience data to enhance the iterative development process.
This position's most visible responsibilities will be to engage and communicate with faculty, staff, and students around using the digital systems, as well as providing training and support, to facilitate their scholarship, teaching, and engagement work at UVA. The successful candidate will also work iteratively with the SHANTI development team to enhance these systems' value to the broad University community. User engagement and user research will go hand in hand.
As a member of SHANTI's communications team, the coordinator will also work with other SHANTI staff in producing and supporting programs for expanding creative and straightforward uses of these systems. Of particular importance is the recent release at UVA of Mandala, a new platform that houses scholarly assets such as videos, images, and texts with creative interconnections based upon place (GIS), subjects (ontologies), agents, and more.
