Location: Charlottesville

Posting Date: 11-10-2017

Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia Maxine Platzer Lynn Women's Center seeks a Program Director of Counseling and Wellness Services. At the Women's Center, counseling services are an integral component of the Women's Center mission. We provide empowerment-based, trauma-informed counseling services (without charge) to students, faculty, staff, and members of the Charlottesville community. Our primary clients are students.
This position supervises the counseling team (4 counselors) and oversees its contributions to the Women's Center engaged scholarship offerings. She/he will carry a small caseload and/or contribute to the team's case management work (to be determined in consultation with the Director of the Women's Center). This position also provides oversight for the Body Positive program, an evidence-based educational initiative that envisions a body positive community in which everyone enjoys a healthy relationship with food, exercise, and body image. The Program Director of Counseling and Wellness Services is part of the senior management team and serves as a liaison between the Women's Center and the Office of the Dean of Students and between the Women's Center and other mental health providers at UVA and in the community.
We seek a candidate who has significant experience providing counseling and supervision of early-mid career counselors. Because students are our primary client base, significant experience working in a university setting and/or with this population is desired; experience working with a diverse client population is also desired. The counseling team works within the Women's Center, and the Director of Counseling and Wellness Services ensures that the counselors are integrated members of the Women's Center staff.
