A Research Scientist position is available in Dr. Xiaorong Liu's lab at the University of Virginia to study the development and disease of mouse visual system. Specifically, the lab investigates how retinal ganglion cells mature during postnatal development and how these cells degenerate in mouse models of glaucoma. The incumbent will work independently in advancing these studies using an integrative approach that combines imaging, molecular, genetics, physiological, and behavioral techniques.
This is a one-year appointment; however the appointment may be renewed, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.
A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Neuroscience, Biology, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with previous research experience in mouse genetics, molecular biology, and/or electrophysiology are preferred.
