The University of Virginia is a highly competitive Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence. The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is seeking interested candidates for the volunteer position of Coaching Assistant for the Strength and Conditioning programs for Men's and Women's Basketball for the 2018 spring and/or summer sessions.
The scope of activities will primarily consist of training activities for educational purposes of the participant (e.g., curriculum-related credit or a continuing education experience). The volunteer will not be required by the Basketball unit to fulfill any hours outside of their respective academic or continuing education requirements. The secondary activities of this volunteer experience may also include (but not be limited to) aiding the Basketball Strength and Conditioning unit in the following:
*Facility setup, maintenance, and upkeep
*Data collection and analysis
*Program planning and "think tank" discussion
*Facilitation of training sessions
Based on the short duration of this experience, the participant will be restricted from the following:
*Program design and implementation
*Direct coaching of student-athletes
*Taking, utilizing, or disclosing data or information related to the University of Virginia student-athletes
This is an unpaid, volunteer opportunity.
