Posting Summary:
The Darden Graduate School of Business seeks a thought leader and distinguished teacher for a senior faculty position. The David C. Walentas Jefferson Scholars Foundation Professor will be a member in one of the academic areas of the school. The mission of the Jefferson Scholars Foundation is to serve the University of Virginia by identifying, attracting, and nurturing individuals of extraordinary intellectual range and depth who possess the highest concomitant qualities of leadership, scholarship, and citizenship. The holder of the Professorship will be a nationally and internationally recognized scholar who will participate actively in the Jefferson Scholars Foundation community by serving on the Foundation's selection committees, attending Foundation events, and helping the Foundation recruit and support its Scholars and Fellows.

This could be a non-tenure track faculty position in the Darden School with a renewable five-year term or a tenure-track appointment depending on the candidate's qualifications. A joint/courtesy appointment is possible in one of the other schools of the university depending on the candidate's qualifications. The preferred candidate will have a distinguished career in writing, business, academia, government or public policy and will have the capacity to contribute to a rich academic life.

Specific Responsibilities:
Teaches in the Degree Programs.
Teaches in the Executive Education Programs.
Engages in writing and publishing books, articles, or other media on issues relevant to business practice.
Develops, coaches, and leads a team of faculty in executive education programs of the school.
Conceives of custom or open enrollment executive education programs that truly reflect the emerging needs of organizations.
Leverages strong networks, relationships, and deep listening skills to persuade client organizations that Darden is best positioned to deliver on these programs.
Serves as a thought leader in the school and university.

Qualified Candidates will:
Possess clear evidence of impact in academia and/or practice.
Increase the stature of the school, both in academia and with practice, and show evidence that this stature will continue to grow.
Share the values of Darden and be committed to thought leadership, impactful student instruction and development, and influencing practice.
Have evidence of impact in one or more of the following areas: ideas, teaching, curriculum development, and/or practice.
Contribute to enhancing the richness of the life of the institution, including student and faculty life in the school and across university grounds.
Be a role model for junior colleagues and exemplify the notion of excellence in whatever he or she does.
Work across disciplinary boundaries and collaborate across university grounds.
Become part of the Jefferson Professorship community.
Have the commitment and capability to build Darden, and the University, through collaborative style, as one of the best in the world.
Demonstrate impact and results orientation; gets things done both individually and through others.

Education
MBA, Ph.D. and/or other graduate degree preferred
