The Department of Electrical and Computing Engineering at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Scientist to work in the lab of Professor and Chair Nikos Sidiropoulos. The incumbent will conduct research, write papers to be published, manage reporting, participate in proposal writing, and co-supervise graduate students. All professional research staff appointments are made on a one year basis and annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory performance and the continued availability of funding.
Candidates must have a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer or Systems Science, or equivalent, with research emphasis on tensor decomposition and multilinear algebra. General background in signal processing and optimization is also needed, with an interest in branching out towards machine learning. Strong journal publication record in top-rated journals required; student mentoring and proposal writing experience preferred.
