Posting Summary:
The Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia is seeking a Biostatistician to collaborate with biomedical researchers in designing and implementing research projects and publishing results. This position entails project data analysis, including designing, writing, and testing complex statistical analysis programs to perform statistical analysis for various biomedical problems and data sets. Incumbent will also provide statistical genetic/biostatistical consulting and project support, as well as verbal and/or written project status reports, and may be asked to author sections of publications or grant proposals.

Qualified applicants must have a Masters degree in a related discipline (e.g. Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Statistics, etc.) and at least five years of health services / outcomes research-related experience. A Doctoral degree in a related discipline (e.g. Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Statistics, etc.) with at least two years of health services / outcomes research-related experience after earning the doctorate is preferred.

This is a restricted position and is contingent on the continuation of funding.

3. Ability to align programs with University, state, and federal policies and regulations.
4. Deep knowledge of the analyses of biomedical research. Mastery of program information.
5. Ability to advise team appropriately in areas of expertise.
6. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication in daily interactions. Proven ability to clearly articulate specific information.
7. Proven ability to clearly articulate team mission, vision, and goals. Demonstrate experience building, leading, motivating, and assessing small professional teams.
8. Ability to advise teams on implementation and modification of technological components of biomedical research. 9. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret information for senior University leaders. Ability to oversee team training and access University systems.
10. Exemplify the University's educational mission, strategic aims, and programs.
