Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia Library seeks an experienced and collaborative Associate University Librarian (AUL) for Scholarly Resources & Content Strategy. This leader has responsibility for the overall administration and coordination of the staff responsible for the lifecycle of the Library's reference and circulating collections including selection, acquisition, description, digitization, stacks maintenance and interlibrary loan. The AUL will articulate a vision and strategic direction to connect users with resources in all formats and subjects, balancing timeliness with monetary and staffing resources, and will actively develop strategic collaborations with partner organizations to further expand opportunities for access to an increasingly wider array of materials.

This role will oversee the development of strategies for connecting users to needed resources utilizing approaches that include purchasing, borrowing, leasing or other forms of acquisition that take into account long term requirements for local access, realistic space, and budget factors. This position will also provide direction for description, digitization and discovery in order to provide timely access that meets national standards and is compatible with an evolving national and international information ecosystem. The AUL will actively build, develop, and deepen collaborative partnerships locally, regionally, and nationally for collection development, description and digitization systems and policies and establish the Library as a desired partner among research libraries.

The AUL will work closely with a leadership team to fulfill the goals of the Library, including the development and delivery of collections during a major renovation project in the main library building, and a capital campaign for the university and the library. The AUL will work with peers and other colleagues to develop a user-centered collections strategy, to promote scholarly community, and to steward university resources in a responsible and forward-looking way.
