Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Director, Finance and Administration. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative self-starter to help our ITS leadership team transform the way we: analyze financial data, monitor the financial activity of our organization, understand the costs of IT services, and strategically forecast financial trends. This position reports to the Deputy CIO and serves a key role in a variety of administrative and operational capacities in a complex and dynamic organization. This position requires significant multi-tasking and is responsible for financial analysis and reporting, budget planning, consolidated IT billing, IT procurement, space planning, and related administrative activities for all organizational areas reporting to the CIO, a $51M enterprise with 263 FTEs, including the $11.7M communication services auxiliary. This position will also serve as our primary liaison to University HR. Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree, significant fund accounting experience, and at least five years of demonstrated work experience managing financial and administrative functions in a complex organization, preferably in a University setting.
The Senior Director, Finance and Administration will:
Provide direction and oversight for the financial planning and fiscal operations of the Office of the CIO and Information Technology Services, including Information Security. Serve as the primary liaison with the University Budget Office in the development of CIO-area budgets, strategic funding requests, routine and ad hoc financial analysis and reporting.
Provide oversight to the budget development process, including implementation, tracking and evaluation. Collaborate with ITS departments and the CIO leadership team to provide data-informed analyses and assessment of needs.
Interpret financial, operational, and administrative policies and procedures; provide specialized financial consultation and advice to ITS units and CIO Leadership team members. Analyze and interpret financial data and present the information in frequent reports and presentations to the Deputy CIO and the CIO Leadership team.
This position will also serve as our primary liaison to the University HR unit and help to manage our ITS transition of HR duties into the future-state HR organization and the new Workday system. Directly supervise and/or oversee staff who are tasked with: budget management, expenditure tracking, IT billing, IT procurement, asset tracking, office management & administrative support, and space management.
Direct ongoing activities and reporting associated with our Cost of Services framework. Participate in institutional benchmarking and surveys (EDUCAUSE Core Data, Gartner IT Budget, higher education peer benchmarking, etc.)
Serve as the primary liaison with relevant University officials, third party architects, etc. regarding CIO-area office space planning, coordination, and renovation, as appropriate.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills in daily interactions.
Exercise discretion in the handling of confidential and/or sensitive information.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills. Expert problem solver, analytical thinker and decision maker. Ability to multitask, prioritize and delegate responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner. Must exercise confidentiality and discretion in the operational and decision-making process.
Strong working knowledge of fund accounting.
