Posting Summary:
The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences' Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Virginia is seeks a Finance Generalist. The successful candidate will serve as project manager for the department's approximately $6 million budget, including accounting, budget projections, budget strategy, financial analysis, purchasing, and account reconciliation and other administrative responsibilities.

The incumbent will work with department chair and finance committee on budget strategy and structure. Develop and implement accurate, timely, and complete budget and accounting summaries including income/expense summary reports and develop and provide financial forecasts. Reconcile forecasts to actual results, serve as representative for the organization in wider institutional finance initiatives, serve on committees and attend standing meetings and participate in training sessions to keep apprised of changes in policy and procedures. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide administrative support and special projects for the department faculty and staff as needed and as assigned by supervisor.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent required with documented experience in finance or accounting. Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications is also required. Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance and experience with state, local, gift, endowments, cash balances and equipment trust account management is preferred. Preference will be given for those candidates who have experience with UVA's integrated system (Oracle HR/Financial, UBI reporting, and RECON@UVa), Chrome River, Research UVa and effort certification.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly, work effectively with little supervision, and operate as a willing team member with the central administration and leadership across the department and school. This position reports to the Unit Administrator and Department Chair.
