Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia Health System Development Office seeks an Associate Director of Development, UVA Brain to join our collaborative, high-achieving, and enthusiastic team in preparation for the University's upcoming bicentennial campaign.

The Associate Director of Development, UVA Brain (ADOD) is a major gifts officer who is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects and donors as part of the Health System Development Office (HSDO) and the larger University community, with an emphasis on discovery work that builds the major gift pipeline for the program. He/she seeks gifts of $100,000 and above to advance the strategic priorities of UVA Brain, including research, patient care, and education/training. He/she will identify opportunities to collaborate with development officers across Grounds to grow neuroscience support from interested alumni, parents, friends and community members. The ADOD, UVA Brain works with patients and families who make gifts in gratitude for the care they received at UVA. He/she partners with physicians to identify grateful patient prospective donors and to create appropriate fundraising strategies that uphold patient confidentiality and conform to the highest ethical standards. His/her responsibilities include serving as the lead fundraiser for specific neuroscience programs and working collaboratively, with guidance from other colleagues, to staff the broad range of neuroscience priorities.

The ideal candidate will possess the exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence necessary to work with those who have a personal connection to an illness, along with the organizational and collaborative skills that contribute to fundraising success in a pan-University fundraising environment. He/she will have a strong goal and teamwork orientation, track record of success in a client-focused field, and the ability to work effectively in a complex environment. The ability to travel regionally and to work occasional nights and weekends is required.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships of trust and respect with a diverse range of constituents, including donors and prospects, healthcare providers, research faculty, administrators, and development colleagues

High emotional intelligence, empathy and ability to relate to individuals whose lives have been impacted by health experiences

Highest ethical standards and attention to confidentiality when dealing with donor and patient information

Excellent verbal and written communications skills

High level of initiative and strong orientation to teamwork and collaboration

Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects
