Posting Summary:
The Associate Director, Student Philanthropy manages the telemarketing channel at UVA, working closely with Advancement leadership across Grounds to identify and maintain effective phone solicitation strategies for their programs.

As UVA enters a capital campaign, the expansion of philanthropic education and our student fundraising efforts will be critical. The Associate Director works in partnership with schools and units to develop effective strategies based on analysis of data. The successful candidate supervises a large pool of student fundraisers and leaders, as well as the Administrative Coordinator, Student Philanthropy. The schedule for this position is based on the mutually agreed upon times by the incumbent and manager, with expectations of being on-site for the week day calling hours. The student fundraisers solicit on Sunday afternoons and weekday evenings, Monday-Thursday.

In additional to managing the largest group of student fundraisers on Grounds, the Associate Director, Student Philanthropy will develop and execute a strategy for educating UVA students on the importance of philanthropy to UVA. This will include working in coordination with the Alumni Association on class councils and fourth year giving, creating a resource at Cavalier Connect for students fundraising for their independent organizations, and increasing the retention rate of young alumni after graduation.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Decision-making skills, ability to manage a budget, ability to manage employees. Ability to develop strategies to increase productivity and increase fundraising efforts using continuous process improvement. Aptitude for computers and learning new software. Ability to work a flexible schedule. This position's schedule is a mutually agreed upon schedule by the incumbent and manager, with an expectation that he/she will work while student fundraisers are soliciting.
