The Department of Systems and Information Engineering within the School of Engineering & Applied Science at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for a Systems Engineer 2 supporting the work of Professor Matthew Gerber for a term of four years.
The incumbent will work as an Android/iOS software engineer to further the four-year research and development project that will leverage Android and iOS smartphones to sense and anticipate users' health conditions (e.g., diseases and injuries). The project team comprises engineers and physicians at the University of Virginia, including faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates. This project is in collaboration with a high-profile industrial partner.
The successful applicant will take charge of an existing Android/iOS mobile sensing platform, Sensus, which will be a critical part of the project. All development will be done in Xamarin. The applicant will create and enhance the existing data sensing, transmission, and dashboard architectures.
Candidates must have experience with Android/iOS engineering, Xamarin, and Amazon Web Services. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related discipline and at least one year of experience is required. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
