Posting Summary:
The School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia seeks candidates to support the operations of Post Award Research Administration within the Dean's Office as a Grants and Contracts Administrator. Duties include grants management, administrative services and financial services, reporting, financial projections, financial reconciliation, providing backup supervision of office, effort reporting, and procurement and accounting services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and managing research awards for Engineering research faculty in addition to assisting with the management of daily office operations. The successful candidate will work closely with various stakeholders across the University and the School to provide high quality customer service. The ideal candidate will support researchers in: 1) managing research awards from start to completion, 2) providing guidance in the interpretation of funding agency regulations and requirements, 3) providing financial guidance and projections, 4) provide reports as needed, analysis and assistance with budgeting, and 5) managing internal financial controls. The incumbent will handle document preparation, reconciliation review, labor adjustments, labor scheduling, and prepare various reports and requests for Engineering faculty, Dean's Office, Sponsored Programs and Sponsoring Agencies as required.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively in a team unit. Additionally, the incumbent must possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, interact professionally with faculty and staff and negotiate successful resolutions to various situations while demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.

An Associate's Degree with at least two years of grant and contracts experience is required. 6-8 years of experience in business, finance or accounting may substitute for required Associates Degree. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree and more than three years of grant and contracts experience are preferred. Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications and the ability to learn how to use UVA's financial, research and/or student systems is required, with preference for those candidates who are currently proficient in using UVA's integrated system, UBI, Research UVA, [email protected] and Image Now.
