Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia's Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences is seeking a Research Specialist, Senior to design and implement epidemiological research in the area of transgender health. The Research Specialist, Senior will work closely with faculty in the UVA Center for Behavioral Health and Technology (CBHT) in the Dept. of Psychiatry as well as with faculty from the Departments of Medicine and Public Health Sciences. The Research Specialist, Senior will work closely with faculty to assist in survey research design and provide expert consultation, technical, and scientific support for investigators, and assist in outreach and training activities. In addition, the Research Specialist, Senior will conduct research to understand population issues using a variety of means to collate the necessary information, including questionnaires, interviews and outreach to key informants, review and critique reports and analyses of other researchers and conduct ongoing, periodic, and final analyses of data using specialized techniques and programming, and write and collaborate with other researchers on manuscripts, abstracts, and other publications of research findings.

Qualified candidates will have a Master's degree in public health or related field and experience with transgender health such as advocacy, research, and project management. The successful candidate will also have substantial experience with field survey methodology and relevant experience conducting data analysis, manuscript writing, and providing biostatistical assistance to researchers. Experience gained as a student or volunteer during coursework will be considered.

This position is restricted and contingent upon the continuation of funding.
