Working Title: Research Associate
Position Type: Professional Research Staff
Department: Center for Public Health Genomics
Posting Date: 02-12-2018
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available immediately in the University of Virginia Center for Public Health Genomics with the goal of characterizing genes and pathways involved in crypt stem cell dysregulation in the early stages of colorectal cancer development.
Our approach involves characterizing changes in enhancer usage and gene targets in colon crypt maturation using ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, and characterizing the role of enhancer target genes/pathways in colorectal cancer development using normal human colon 3D organoid ("mini-gut") models. The long-term goal of these studies is to develop novel prevention methods for colorectal cancer.
Candidates must have a PhD and/or MD degree in hand by the start date and demonstrated expertise in molecular biology, or equivalent degree and training in Molecular Biology, Molecular Genomics or a related field. Successful candidates must have effective oral and written communication skills as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations and exhibit independence and creativity. Experience in molecular genomics is preferred.
The successful candidate will join an interactive group of motivated scientists in the Center for Public Health Genomics (http://cphg.virginia.edu) at the University of Virginia.
