Posting Summary:
The Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology is seeking a full-time position as Assistant Professor of Research, Tenure Ineligible, available immediately for a highly motivated postdoctoral scholar interested in translational research to study biomarkers relevant in Hypertension and renal diseases in humans in the laboratory of Dr. Uta Erdbrgger. In particular Dr. Erdbrgger is studying the diagnostic and functional role of extracellular vesicles (EVs) as novel biomarkers for endothelial dysfunction or end-organ damage in hypertension and various renal diseases in blood and urine. Her translational studies are complemented by rodent models using state-of-the-art techniques of EV detection including imaging flow cytometry, resistive pulse sensing and cryo-electron microscopy.

A qualified candidate for this position is expected to have a PhD (in Biochemistry or Experimental Medicine or Molecular Biology or Medical Science or Pharmacology) and a strong interest in EV research and excellent references from PhD or postdoctoral research.

Training and mentoring of undergrad and graduate students as well as others in the lab is expected, therefore teaching experience of more than 1 year is also required. Successful candidates must have effective oral and written communication skills as evidenced by a solid track record of scientific manuscripts and poster presentations.
