The Department of Neurology at the University of Virginia seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to study the mechanisms of cortical seizure spread using a combination of local field potential recording, multiple cell patch clamp recordings and imaging techniques in the laboratory of Dr. Jaideep Kapur. The laboratory is a part of group investigating mechanisms and treatment of seizures, status epilepticus and catamenial epilepsy. Education and training in developing novel techniques and preparing grants and presentations at scientific meetings will be available through mentoring and active collaboration with other researchers.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in a neuroscience-related discipline by the start date and a record of productivity. Previous experience in neuroscience, patch clamp electrophysiology and hippocampal physiology is desirable.
