The Center for Diabetes Technology at the University of Virginia seeks candidates to join its faculty. The incumbent will conduct research and expand Center-related research lines at the interface of engineering and medicine, including potentially metabolic computer simulation in diabetes, patient centered decision support systems, modelling and identification of the glucose metabolism system in the diabetic state, and optimal drug delivery strategies, including automated closed loop systems. The responsibilities of the new faculty member will include support of existing projects as well as the development of new research lines associated with the center simulator technologies. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in trainees' education (undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate) and will have access to teaching opportunities in both the School of Medicine and the School of Engineering. Salary, rank, and tenure status are contingent upon candidate qualifications and experience.
Candidates must have an MD, PhD, or equivalent in engineering or related field and a minimum of 5 years of research experience in systems or electrical engineering, or related field.
