General Summary: The Department of Spanish at the University of North Georgia is seeking applications for a tenure track position in Portuguese and Spanish at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2018. Teaching schedules may include assignments on the University's Dahlonega and/or Gainesville campuses, evening or on-line classes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The Assistant Professor of Portuguese will:

  • Teach four undergraduate Portuguese or a combination of Portuguese and Spanish courses per semester in the Department of Spanish.
  • Advise students; serve the department, the university and the community; and engage in scholarly activity.

Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements: Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D., or the foreign equivalent, in Portuguese or a related field
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching Portuguese at the university level in the US or Canada, with at least two years of part-time graduate teaching experience
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Portuguese and English
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all campus constituencies
  • Potential for excellence in service and scholarship

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Specialization open to Linguistics or Literature
  • Spanish Language proficiency with 18 graduate hours in Spanish
