GIM - Assistant Professor, Research Scholar Pathway

The University of Vermont (UVM) is seeking a doctoral-level Health Services Researcher to join the new Health Services Research Center in the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine (COM). This is an opportunity to join the Center and College at an exciting time, with Vermont poised to embark upon a unique all-payer accountable care organization model spanning the state that will facilitate remarkable opportunities for innovative health services research. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative interdisciplinary center focused on evaluating the impact of innovative healthcare delivery models, chronic disease prevention and management, organization and financing of health care, integrated health information systems, health policy or other health service domains.
The successful candidate will conduct rigorous, externally funded research and potentially teach students in one or more of the COM's graduate degree programs. We desire evidence of success working on interdisciplinary research teams and either hold or be expecting a doctoral level degree (MD, PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent). We are particularly interested in expertise in quantitative health services research methods, experience using large healthcare databases for research purposes (such as EPIC or healthcare claims data), excellent oral and written communication skills, and a strong commitment to academic research. Particular areas of interest include implementation science, comparative effectiveness research, health economics, policy analysis, outcomes research, quality of care research and pediatric health services research. Demonstrated experience working with clinical faculty on health service research projects is desirable. Candidates with experience or interest in obtaining extramural grants to fund their research are particularly encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be granted a faculty appointment in the Department of Medicine. The initial appointment is intended to be at the Assistant Professor level in the Research Scholar Pathway. The salary for this position is commensurate with skills and experience.
