The PeRformance Improvement for Safe Medication Management (PRISM) Collaborative within the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy aims to improve the health of the people of the State of Connecticut, the New England region, and beyond, through safe and effective medication use. PRISM offers interdisciplinary educational programs, community-based research collaborations, health care transformation policy opportunities, and team-based care delivery.
The PRISM Collaborative is enhancing the development of a Community Pharmacy-Based Research Network (CPRN). The CPRN will foster effective research collaborations among community pharmacies, pharmacy educators, pharmacy researchers, and researchers from other healthcare disciplines, as well as other stakeholders in the New England region, to advance patient care and improve patient outcomes.
The Community Pharmacy-Based Research Network appointment will support the development of the CPRN infrastructure, submission of grant proposals and various other scholarship products to support and advance community pharmacy practice in Connecticut and throughout New England.
Program Components and Schedule:
This appointment requires a commitment of 12-24 months and will be primarily based in Storrs, CT, at the University of Connecticut campus. The program components and schedule can be tailored to the individual, based on his/her training, academic work, and experience in health services research. The postdoctoral research associate will engage in study design, grant writing, protocol management, data collection and analysis, manuscript preparations, as well as formal and informal presentations. Some travel may be required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Examples of duties include but are not limited to: assist in project management activities related to CPRN development, developing grant proposals, supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of ongoing research projects. Specific activities will involve stakeholder engagement, development of governance infrastructure, recruitment of study participants, data collection support, oversight of student assistants involved in CPRN projects, maintenance of grant budgets, assistance with IRB submissions, facilitation of grant submissions, and generation of manuscripts.
Completion of PharmD and/or a Masters in health-related or theory-based field (i.e., public health, sociology, business, communications). Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; critical-thinking and problem-solving skills; an ability to work on projects independently and to meet deadlines; a strong desire to work in human subjects research; and an interest in statistical analysis.
Preference will be given to those with successful research experience.
This is a full-time, one-year appointment, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2018; the expected end date (contingent on funding, performance, academic mission, and start date) is June 30, 2019. The option to extend the appointment to two years with an end date of June 30th, 2020 will be considered, commensurate to funding availability and performance and interest.
The successful candidate's primary appointment will be at the University of Connecticut main campus in Storrs. This appointment will receive an annual salary of $50,000, a health benefits package, and 22 days of vacation annually.
