LAB RESEARCH ANALYST I
Radiation Onc-Cancer Biology

Occupational Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to perform various in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo experiments that define mechanisms for the development of secondary hematological malignancies associated with genotoxic cancer therapies.
  • Perform various molecular biology experiments including but not limited to: DNA/RNA/Protein extraction, PCR, gene cloning & sequencing, qRT-PCR, Southern/Northern/Western Blotting, co-immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry staining.
  • Perform various cell biology experiments including but not limited to: Isolate primary cells from mice, culture primary cells & establish cell lines, colony formation assays and flow cytometry analyses .
  • Analyze, evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare reports.
  • For some experiments, mice or cells will need to be assessed each day including weekends. This responsibility will be shared with other members of the lab.
  • Set up instruments, material and apparatus and operate standard laboratory equipment required for specific tests.
  • Teach new lab members scientific techniques that you are familiar with.
  • Meet or communicate by e-mail with the PI (Dr. Lee) on a regular basis to plan experiments, trouble shoot problems, and discuss results.
  • Help provide a collegial environment for the laboratory.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Education

Work requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology or other directly related scientific field.

Experience

Work requires two years of research experience. A related master's degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., a two year master's degree in lieu of two years of experience. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
